William Heise / Santa Ysabel Mission Trip Report

Twenty-five birders joined us for this walk in the mountains on a warm clear day. We were able to find a Purple Martin again, but did not find the Black-chinned Sparrow for the 2nd year in a row. Trysten reported he was told by eBird that the bird that we saw was not a Hammond’s Flycatcher, but that it was in fact a Western Wood-Pewee that was showing a more pronounced eye ring than usual. We had 43 species at William Heise and added 9 new species at Santa Ysabel Mission for a total of 52. The Downy Woodpecker was flagged by ebird as rare for the location. Remember to send photos taken on the walk to palomaraudubon@gmail.com to be shared at our Facebook and website.
