William Heise Trip Report

Despite a High Heat Warning, most of the 20 birders completed the walk in good shape. The Heat Warning did make the leader much more insistent than normal to keep the group together to ensure no one had heat stroke. We had two visitors from England on the walk that added some new birds to their life list. The highlights were a Purple Martin and Brown Creeper which were target birds of several photographers in the group. We heard the Black-chinned Sparrow, but did not see him. At Santa Ysabel Mission the highlights were nesting Hooded Orioles, a brilliant Bullock’s Oriole, and a juvenile Bald Eagle being harassed by Red-tailed Hawks.
