You’re invited to join us to count Brown Pelicans in California, Oregon, Washington, and Baja Mexico, on May 7 from 5 – 7 PM. This citizen science birding blitz will capture a comprehensive snapshot of pelican abundance and age distribution. This information is needed to understand how potential threats from changes in weather patterns, changes in prey availability, and changes in habitat or contaminants, could impact Brown Pelican populations over the long term.
The survey is a joint project of the Audubon network, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s eBird program, and state agencies.
