Birders,
Pretty good day, some highlights—golden eagle, rock wrens, snipe, and an amazing number of raptors flying here and there, hard to count. Oh, and of course, the quite brilliant male vermillion flycatcher being super cooperative. Thank you for your help in spotting the birds.
After lunch, John, Steve and I drove the ponds and found the killdeer, the hooded merganser and later the Cassin’s Kingbird, plus a real show of about 40 cinnamon teal flying around the ponds trying to figure out where they really wanted to be.
We missed a few birds today but overall it was a great day! My numbers will be different from yours as John and I did a little pre-trip run and didn’t see all the birds you saw.
