Program: Iceland-Birding the Ring Road

October 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for our program this month. From 6:30-7:00 PM, a social gathering with snacks, and the presentation begins at 7:00 PM.

Dottie Marron is going to share with us her nine-day birding trip on the Ring Road in Iceland. This is Iceland’s most important road, completed in 1974, and serves as the primary route for both locals and tourists traveling around the country. It forms a complete loop around Iceland, excluding the Westfjords, and is fully paved, mostly two lanes wide, with some single-lane bridges and tunnels in rural areas. Driving the entire road nonstop takes roughly 15–16 hours, but most travelers plan a multi-day trip to explore scenic stops. We will hear Dottie’s experience of this famous road and the birds that were accessible from it. Dottie Marron is a long-time member of the Palomar Audubon Society.

The location is the Remington Club II in Rancho Bernardo:
16925 Hierba Dr
San Diego, CA 92128

Please note that the address is for the entire complex, and there are two main entrances.  The entrance for the building in which we meet is the building to the east of Carver’s Steak House   (to the right if you are looking at the steakhouse). There is a circular driveway and a covered walkway in front of the main door.
Go in the main door and up the stairs (elevator available); our meeting room is then immediately to the left.
If you prefer GPS coordinates, the doors to enter are here: 33.02192834721937, -117.07179724040994
