Field Trip Report for Batiquitos Lagoon on Saturday, September 14th
What a difference a week makes! Last week we were baking in the 100 + degree heat (extreme birding!) in Los Penasquitos Canyon and this week we were delighted with cool autumn temperatures at Batiquitos Lagoon. We had 28 birders in our group and logged 62 species on our walk. Thanks to Mary Jo, we were able to add our list to the California Biodiversity Day on eBird helping San Diego County top the list. Birds of note included the Northern Shovelers, Warbling Vireos, a charismatic California Thrasher, and the signing Chickadee. Overall, it was a wonderful Saturday morning. Thanks again to Steve for compiling the bird list (https://ebird.org/checklist/S195224525) and to the photographers who help us reflect on the great birds we see.
Happy Birding,
Beth
