PAS Field Trip Report: Kumeyaay Lake

On September 28, 2024, Palomar Audubon walked around the Mission Trails Regional Park Kumeyaay Lake and campground area, plus we included a short stint to the grasslands for a quick scan of the terrain. It was foggy in the morning with a temperature in the high 50s F. The skies turned sunny around 9:30 AM and the temperature quickly began to climb up into the 70s F.

About 28 birders traversed the trails and 55 species were found.  A few of the highlights were a female/immature Blue Grosbeak, a high-flying Peregrine Falcon, a distant White-tailed Kite, and the Common Gallinules were rather cute.

A huge amount of gratitude goes out to Steve Ellis for compiling the eBird checklist. Many thanks to the photographers, the bird sighters, listeners, and supporters.
