On a clear, sunny day at the scenic San Elijo Lagoon, 27 enthusiastic members of the Palomar Audubon Society joined us for a delightful bird walk around the lagoon’s perimeter. The group observed an impressive 68 bird species, showcasing the incredible diversity of this important coastal habitat. Some highlights of the day included sightings of a Eurasian Wigeon, a secretive Sora, a Ridgway’s Rail, a Horned Grebe, and a Merlin. The serene weather, vibrant bird activity, and camaraderie made for a memorable experience enjoyed by all participants. Thank you to Steve Ellis for compiling the list, as well as several participants who added photos!
