Meet in the parking area at 37329 De Luz Rd, Fallbrook, CA 92028. From I-15, take the Mission Road exit and head west toward downtown Fallbrook. Turn right onto North Pico Avenue, which becomes De Luz Road. Continue downhill into the river valley to the preserve parking area near the junction with Sandia Creek Drive.

We will walk along the Santa Margarita River, exploring the riparian woodland and surrounding scrub for resident and seasonal birds. Watch for woodpeckers, raptors, and birds feeding in the riverside vegetation. This scenic river corridor offers plenty of opportunities to stop, listen, and enjoy the birds. Wear sturdy walking shoes and bring binoculars, drinking water, and sun protection. A portable restroom is available at the preserve.
