San Jacinto Wildlife Area Trip Report, Mar 12, 2022

Hi, Birders,

It was a sunny and warm day with no wind, per se. 19 birders make the trek. Snow capped nearby San Gorgonio and San Jacinto, part of the Transverse Ranges of So. Cal., provided a nice backdrop. The gold fields were not in bloom. Very little overhead flying, but we managed to scape up 57 species, one of the last being a young Cal. Towhee who stopped by as we were leaving the picnic area looking for bits and crumbs left over from our lunches and those incredible chocolate cookies made by Cindy.

Thank you all for the pictures on the ebird report and help with locating and IDing the birds. And starting the field trip without me as I was still on 8:30 start time and arrived late.

My bad.
