San Joaquin Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary Field Trip Report

Hi Friends,

On Saturday February 24, fifteen birders walked around the San Joaquin Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine CA. The weather was perfect, and we found 76 different bird species. We birded almost 4 hours.

There were lots of Northern Shovelers, American Coots, Ruddy Ducks, Black-necked Stilts, and Western Grebes. The best birds we found were the Yellow-crowned Night Heron and the Green Heron.

Take a look at Steve Ellis’s eBird checklist:    ebird.org/checklist/S162809749

Many thanks go out to field trip leader, Jennifer Falconer, our eBird compiler, Steve Ellis, and to our wonderful photographer, Isabelle Davignon.

Thanks,

Jim Beckman, for our field trip leader, Jennifer Falconer
