San Pasqual Valley Field Trip Results

Hi Friends,

This morning Saturday March 26, twenty-four birders walked the San Pasqual Valley Agricultural Trail. The weather was overcast and foggy when we started, but quickly warmed up. and was quite hot when we finished. We saw a good assortment of the usual springtime chaparral birds, but everybody was really pleased to see the recent arrival of the Hooded Orioles.

Thanks go out to Tom Trowbridge who made arrangements for us to visit a portion of the private Bandy Canyon Ranch where we got really good looks at the orioles and the Northern Flicker. We found 43 bird species along the Trail. To view some nice photos of the birds we found, checkout Steve Ellis’s eBird report: https://ebird.org/checklist/S105640383

After we birded the Agricultural Trail, some of us met up for a picnic lunch at the close-by San Diego Archaeological Center. We found 13 bird species at the Center. Checkout Steve’s eBird report: https://ebird.org/checklist/S105640669
