Tijuana Slough Trip Report

Hello everyone.

On Saturday, July 15th, 25 birders met at the parking lot of what we call Tijuana Slough.  We found the yellow crowned night herons in such abundance that eBird immediately flagged the list as if we were reporting an excessive amount. Oh well; they weren’t there, we saw what we saw.

Ridgeway’s Rail made a good showing, Brown pelicans were abundant and we encountered a family of Kestrels.

Our “special” birds were a family of blue grosbeaks and a gull billed tern, Shorebirds were in better abundance than I had expected. Linda and I left the return leg of the south Mccoy Trail in the capable hands of Jim Beckman as we were expected in Los Angeles.

Thanks everyone that made this field trip enjoyable. Audrey for  compiling the list and thanks to our capable photographers,

Gerry Baade
