Santee Lakes Trip Report

Hi Good Friends,

On Saturday morning December 23, fourteen birders met up at Santee Lakes. The weather was slightly on the cool side, but at least, there was no rain. We all enjoyed the morning walk, and we found 58 bird species.

Birding at Santee Lakes is always great location to see and photograph ducks during this Winter time of the year. And yesterday didn’t disappoint. We found lots of American Coots, Mallards, Ruddy Ducks, Canada Geese, and Ringed-necked Ducks. I think the best birds we found
were the Cinnamon Teals and the single Redhead Duck. The Belted Kingfishers kept us company most of the time.

Many thanks go out to Steve, and our wonderful photographers.

Merry Christmas Everybody!
