We had clear sky and temperatures in the high eighties.  Twenty birders joined us for the walk.  The vegetation was very dry, and we did not see many birds until we got closer to the lake.  The most unusual sighting was of a Western Grebe that was mostly white with gray patches:

Even this late in the year, the Clark’s & Western Grebes were performing their courtship displays.  I saw 3 rushes, and I’m sure there were more.
