On Saturday morning January 7, twenty-seven birders walked around Dixon Lake. After several days of rain, we experienced a very pleasant sunny day, and I think everybody enjoyed the field trip. We found 47 different bird species. Our target bird at this location is always finding a sapsucker. Finally, at the end of our walk, Christina found a Red-naped Sapsucker in a eucalyptus tree near the parking lot. Unfortunately, a lot of our birders had already left the area.
Many thanks to Steve Ellis for maintaining our bird species list. And thanks to our photographers who captured many great photos.
