Sweetwater River–tidal & riparian Trip Report for January 14th Walk

An overcast day with rain forecasted in afternoon.    Fourteen birders joined the walk.  Uncommon birds for this site that we saw were a Bonaparte’s Gull, Little Blue Heron and Hermit Thrush. a hawk we thought was a Ferruginous Hawk was determined to a Red-tail Hawk.  There are couple of subspecies that match what we photographed.  We saw 46 species and 679 individual birds.  Had over 200 American Wigeon and eBird considered high counts for Western Sandpipers and Willets.  Check out the eBird reports to see a list of birds seen, and many nice photos of some of the birds.
