We were really blessed with great weather, snow on the mountain tops, and some pretty good birds. And good company, our birding pal from Vancouver and his wife, and another out-of-town couple we invited to join us for the day. Thanks for all your help. We added a few species to the list as we left the preserve: Mountain Bluebird, Merlin and Prairie Falcon all observed from Davis Road. I came up with an estimate for the White-throated Swifts, 200. Any comments about that? I had first put 300 but that generated an automatic warning flag. Ryan did a head count of the Mountain Bluebirds, 85. I am good with that. The Willet did not come up on the list for the preserve. Did you get a photo, Sonia? Did anybody else see it? Let me know. Noticeably absent, the White-tailed Kite.

Comments:     This was a bird walk organized by Palomar Audubon Society, San
Diego County. Some birds listed were found on Davis Road. We did not do a count
of each species except for a rough estimate of the Mountain Bluebirds and the
White-throated Swifts. The bluebirds were observed both on the west and east
sides of Davis Road near the entrance to the preserve headquarters. The Merlin
and the Prairie Falcon were observed on Davis Road south of the preserve.
