What’s this, an Ivory Gull on a trampoline!? It can’t be. The words “Ivory Gull” send many birders into a wistful state, wishing they they had more snowy white arctic gulls in their lives. New research takes world by storm

Hundreds of thousands of people have viewed this animated map resulting from the newest migration research that uses eBird data. Covering the entire Western Hemisphere, 118 species are shown going through their entire annual cycle—some migrating from the southern tip of Argentina and Chile to northern Canada. GBBC sets records!

The Great Backyard Bird Count was this past month, and set new records across the board. More than 50% of the world’s birds were reported in one weekend, with more than 150,000 checklists submitted throughout the GBBC period. See preliminary results here.
