Orange County Field Trip Report, Oct..14 – Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve & Huntington Central Park

Hi Good Friends,

On Saturday, October14, sixteen birders walked around Bolsa Chica
Ecological Reserve & Huntington Central Park. Both locations are found
in Huntington Beach. We all had a great time with our picnic lunch at
the very large and older City Park. The weather was perfect and we all
enjoyed this long distance birding trip to Orange County.

At Bolsa Chica, we found 39 bird species. Lots of American Coots, Least
Sandpipers, Marbled Godwits, Royal Terns, and Brown Pelicans. See the
eBird checklist of species here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S152251755

At the Huntington Central Park we found 36 bird species. Lots of
Mallards and Yellow-rumped Warblers. Probably the best birds of the day
were the 2 exotic bird species we found at Huntington Central Park: The
Egyptian Geese and the Pin-tailed Whydahs. See the eBird checklist of
the species here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S152252047

Many thanks go out to Steve Ellis and our wonderful photographers.
