PAS Field Trip Report: Agua Dulce

On Saturday, June 27th, 12 of us headed out to the Laguna Mountains to find mountain specialties like Chickadees, Pygmy Nuthatches, Cassin’s Vireo, and Band-tailed Pigeons, and we were not disappointed. The day was sunny and cool with a breeze that occasionally aspired to be wind, but for most of the time we were on the trail, it was not that strong. However, by the time we stopped for lunch, it was legitimately windy. We saw a total of 31 species of birds, and highlights included nesting Western Wood Pewees, Band Tails cooing, and, honestly, tracking down Cassin’s Vireos, who were being very tricky. It was a beautiful day made better by a magnificent group of people. Thanks always to Steve for keeping the list and now also the breeding codes.
Happy Trails,
Beth
