GHO and Pygmy Owl, David Hunter. Great Horned Owls are the largest owl in North America, the Pygmy Owl is the second smallest owl in North America. Both of these owls are full grown and are captive subjects who are cared for by a Fresno Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation member because they have injuries that prevent them from ever returning to the wild successfully. They were photographed individually on the same set and put together via Photoshop.
