PAS Trip Report, Tijuana Valley, 4/9/2022

On 4/9/2022, twelve Palomar Audubon members and guests birded the Tijuana River Valley just north of the border. PAS member Steve Ellis graciously kept and shared the tally. Steve separately tallied the three spots we visited: Dairy Mart Ponds, the Ranger Station, and the Bird & Butterfly Garden.

Our best bird of the day was a Green-tailed Towhee found, after much vigorous searching, just before our conclusion at the Bird & Butterfly Garden. Additionally, we got excellent looks at several Yellow-breasted Chats at Dairy Mart Ponds. Singing Bell’s Vireos were also common at Dairy Mart.
