PAS Field Trip Report: San Elijo Lagoon

On Saturday, December 20, 39 birders gathered at San Elijo Lagoon for a respite during the hectic holiday season. We were rewarded with beautiful weather and 85 species of birds.  With such a large group, it was hard to stick together, but we made it work.  Some highlights included great views of all three local teals (blue, green, and cinnamon), redheads, yellow legs, and brilliantly lighted Allen’s and Anna’s hummingbirds.  We also had two rarities, a black and white warbler and an elusive Eurasian Wigeon that required extra effort to spot.  Thanks, as always, to Steve Ellis, our trusty eBird list keeper. Check it out, in all of its 85-species-with-fabulous-photos glory.  https://ebird.org/checklist/S289424128

Happy Trails,
