On Saturday, September 6, thirty-two birders walked around Santee Lakes
Recreational Preserve. The weather was warm, but we managed to complete
the walk before the really hot weather arrived.
We found 44 different bird species. The Egyptian Goose was the highlight
species. The bird is a San Diego rarity. The Goose seemed quite tame and
is most likely somebody’s escaped pet.
We found lots of Red-winged Blackbirds, Mallards, and Canada Geese.
Many thanks go out to Steve Ellis for keeping our eBird checklist as
well as our wonderful photographers.
